Throw Away Travel Expectations: Greece Edition

For those of you that follow along closely on our social media… You know I took a month to go and explore the enchanting country of Greece. My initial feelings before taking off on this excursion that I have quite literally dreamed about since the age of twelve obviously was excitement, but also something I did not expect was the feelings of fear. Not fear to venture out on my own, not fear of the place itself, but the fear of would this place I had fantasized about for so long live up to all of my enormous expectations. I feel as if that feeling is relatable, how often have you started out on an adventure expecting one thing and experiencing the total opposite? I had so many expectations, which is something I am striving to not have going into travel anymore. To keep myself open to all opportunities and not be stuck in my ways, has been one of my 2019 goals. I cannot wait to get into my Greek adventures with y’all, and believe me, it was the trip of a lifetime, but I also want to acknowledge that when we are traveling it is okay for everything to not go exactly our way. By the end of the trip, half of my plans had been thrown to the wind and I had abandoned all schedules and plans that I had so rigorously laid out for myself. By the end of the trip I was surrounded by new faces, new feelings, unplanned places, and I could not have been in a stronger state of bliss. It really brought my feelings of “the Year of We” full circle. If you have not checked out my blog of the year “The Year of We,” I will link it below, because a lot of the themes from my Greece trip are truly portrayed in my goal for 2019. So stay tuned my travel tribe for a very long series is about to take off on my favorite trip yet, and my ultimate childhood dream fulfilled.

Good Vibes and Adventure,

Gabi
