I Traveled to Europe With Just a Carry on! - Minimalist Packing: Greece Edition

· · · Comments

I traveled to Europe with only a small duffle carry on!!!

Yes you heard me right. I left on my excursion to Greece for a month with only a backpack and a tiny duffle that actually could fit under my seat. How you ask? Minimalist packing. I get asked quite often how I could possibly manage to pack so light and still have so many cute clothes and accessories when I travel (*cough cough* my Ranch Bucket hats). Here are a few of my pointers…

Plan, but also leave it flexible enough that you do not HAVE to wear what you planned for that day. Weather changes, so does your mood, you might not want to wear the outfit you planned that day. Leave enough versatility that you can change your mind at the drop of a hat and do not feel stifled in your wardrobe creativity.

Bring a versatile shoe. My go to, one pair of sandals, one pair of slide on sneakers. The slide on sneaker looks more dressed up but they are still comfortable to walk in and sandals take up very little space in your bag. Wear the sneakers during the travel sections of your trip.

Wear your heaviest items on the plane. This is a given.

I am fashion crazy and such a girly girl, so I tend to pack a lot of dresses. They do not take up a lot of space and you still feel cute and styled up, plus they look great in pictures.

Ditch the jeans. I usually allow myself ONE pair of jeans. They take up too much space and are heavy. Trade out the jeans for some flowy pants or upscale leggings.

Go pick up the smallest toiletries you can find and ditch the makeup ladies. Use this vacation as an opportunity to give yourself and your skin a break and ditch all those heavy makeup bottles and brushes, let that natural beauty shine!

Now to the most important part… My hats and Ranch Bucket T-shirts. I usually wear one of my T-shirts on the plane because they are super cozy and soft. The tanks roll up super nicely and take up hardly any room. Now here is the best tip I can give on hats, I clip them through the straps outside of my bag. Easy to get to when I get plane hair and never smushed in the bag so they do not become misshapen.

You are ready to go! Comment some of your best travel packing tips… I know there are some good ones out there that I did not mention!
